ByeBye!

So I think that's everything. I think I've updated everyone with what I remember... but if you ever have questions let me know what they are and i'll answer them when i get back! My email is kristenmbair@gmail.com or you could leave me a message here or on my facebook. If you want to follow my ship on the Sea Semester Blog, this is the link: http://www.sea.edu/voyages/blog_cramer_235h
Every day of the week there will be a blog update of what we've done on the ship that day, where we are and other general news! I will post on it every now and again but they are usually pretty interesting so you can read them! I'll miss everyone so much, and if you want to call me or skype me today into midday tomorrow I can most likely talk, but after about 4 tomorrow I'm pretty much gone until Thanksgiving! Have a wonderful month and a half and i'll talk to everyone soon!!

All my love,
Kristen

Half Way

The last few days of the shore component flew by like a bullet. I've never had a week go by that quickly. We had a 10 page paper due and two test, well one test was turned into an optional test, but it was a full stressful week, AND we had to pack, clean and move out of our houses before Saturday. But within that time we spray painted on our foul weather gear to personalize them (which, since then has been removed because I melted everywhere), made bread that looks like a panda, learned about Sea safety and emersion suits, and say good bye to the people we've spent every moment of every day with since we got here. It was harder than one might think to say goodbye for five days. I can't even imagine saying good bye after the Sea portion.

So friday, Kelsey, Paige and I left for Providence, Rhode Island. We headed to Brown University to visit my friend Nick from home! Oddly enough we were driving around on campus and we ran into him running to class! He told us to find somewhere to park and he'd see us in about an hour. After we parked we were just chilling in the car and I heard a familiar voice up the street. I peered out the window and saw Jeremy, Liz and Colby, three kids on our trip! They were staying at Jeremy's house which is about five blocks from Brown! So we went over to Jeremy's house and hung out there for a while until we had to go meet Nick. We then went to Nick's Pirate Acapella group rehearsal and got to laugh at their funny songs. Then we headed to Nick's girlfriends apartment where we were going to stay the night. Sam had just gotten a kitten... so needless to say we played with the kitten all night long.

After spending the night at Brown, we drove to Kelsey's house in Canterbury, Connecticut. We had a great relaxing day and a half there and then yesterday we headed into Boston. We wandered around boston a bit, but spent most of the day in Boston Commons, where we played ukulele and sang for about three hours. While we were there our friend from SEA, Zach, met up with us. We made some friends with some dogs and squirrels. We also saw the huge Occupy Boston Protest that happened yesterday, they walked right by us in the park and there were THOUSANDS of them. IT was really interesting to see it all and it really made me think about my friend from Scripps, Caitlin, who is in Chile right now and tell me all about the education reform protests. I know the protests she's seeing are much more violent, but even this mostly peaceful protest that I saw made me nervous, so I can only imagine how it makes Caitlin feel in Chile. I then got in contact with Kurt, one of my best friends from home! So we got to meet up with him which was fantastic. It was a long day of subways and busses and trains but in the end we ended up in Cohasset, Massachusetts to stay with our friend Margaret.

Photo Day

I've been wanting to just ride around and take pictures of all the beautiful places I've seen and been to here. So finally, Paige, Kelsey, Margaret and I headed out on SEA bikes and took pictures all morning for like three hours. We went to the private SEA beach, the knob which I talked about earlier, and to Spohr Gardens, which is a collection of anchors from real ships in this garden walk. It's really cool and seeing the size of the anchors is slightly mind blowing. Rather than talk about each picture I'll just put them all up!
